Description

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) implements the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme, which oversees 15 national health practitioner boards including:

  • Chinese medicine
  • chiropractic
  • dental
  • osteopathy
  • pharmacy
  • physiotherapy and psychology boards.

AHPRA also receives complaints about registered health practitioners on behalf of the national boards and manages the complaints process.

Services provided

  • Receives complaints (called ‘notifications’) about health practitioners covered by the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme
  • Publishes information about the registration status of health practitioners in Australia

Costs

  • AHPRA provides a free complaints service.
  • Calls are charged at the cost of a local call.
  • Calls from mobile phones may be charged at a higher rate.

Tip

  • You can make a complaint by phone, by downloading the notifications form the AHPRA website and submitting it by post, or in person at an AHPRA office.

Important

  • This service cannot be used to make complaints about health practitioners or services that are not covered under the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme. Check the AHPRA website for a list of the 15 national boards.
