Who can access women's sexual and reproductive health hubs
Sexual and reproductive health hubs are available for all Victorian women, girls and gender diverse people throughout community health services in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Some people may be given priority access to the hubs depending on their needs. This may include:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- culturally and linguistically diverse women
- LGBTIQA+ people
- women with a disability
- young people
- refugees
- concession and/or pension card holders.
Services available at women's sexual and reproductive health hubs
All hub appointments are confidential. Services offered at each hub may vary and include:
- contraception advice (including emergency contraception)
- pregnancy testing
- pregnancy options and counselling (whether your pregnancy is planned or unplanned)
- long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) insertion and removal of intrauterine devices (IUDs) and implants
- medical abortion
- sexual health treatment and support.– including sexually transmissible infection (STI) screening
- referrals to other services – such as specialists, surgical abortion of pregnancy, blood and urine tests, diagnostic imaging, pharmacies.
Cost of services at women's sexual and reproductive health hubs
Most services offered at hubs are free or low-cost. Some services are bulk billed through Medicare. Please contact the hub directly to find out about their costs.
You may need to pay fees for services you are referred to – these may include medical procedures, medications and diagnostic tests.
If you are unsure about what you are covered for, contact your nearest hub.
Making an appointment at a women's sexual and reproductive health hub
You usually do not need a referral to make an appointment.
Bookings can be made directly to your nearest hub by using the contact details below. Some hubs may offer bookings online.
Hours of operation may vary.
Hubs are accessible and you will be prioritised depending on your needs.
Women who speak a language other than English
If you need an interpreter, call TIS National on 13 14 50. Ask for an interpreter and then ask to be connected your nearest hub. You will need to give them the hub's phone number.
What to bring to your appointment
Bring your Medicare card and any concession cards you have.
You are welcome to bring a support person with you.
What happens at your appointment
You may see a GP (doctor) or nurse depending on the service you need.
You may be asked to fill out some forms about your medical history. Any information you provide is confidential.
If you would prefer to see a female staff member, ask when making your booking.
