The Breastfeeding is a confidential telephone service that offers information and advice about breastfeeding your baby.
You can talk to the counsellors about any issues or questions you have about breastfeeding or expressing breastmilk. They can provide reassurance and share knowledge about how breastfeeding works and help you overcome common hurdles.

The National Relay Service is available to help callers who are d/Deaf, or find it hard to hear or speak to hearing people on the phone.
The Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS is available (24 hours, 7 days) for callers who speak other languages. Call 13 14 50.
Costs
- Calls are free from landlines.
- Calls from mobile phones may be charged at a higher rate.
Tip
- Contact the Breastfeeding Helpline if you have any concerns about breastfeeding your baby.
Important
- The trained volunteer counsellors have had practical experience with breastfeeding. They have also completed a Certificate IV in Breastfeeding Education (or equivalent) through the Australian Breastfeeding Association and continually update their breastfeeding knowledge and skills with ongoing training.
- Counsellors cannot give medical advice but they can help you with any concerns. If you have a medical issue they will refer you to a doctor or other relevant health professional in your area.
