The VicEmergency Hotline provides information before, during and after all types of emergencies, including fire, flood, storm, earthquake, and more. The VicEmergency Hotline can provide you with information about the location of emergency relief centres, total fire bans or restrictions that are in place, beach closures, shark sightings, and any other emergency information you may need.

Eligibility

Anyone can contact the VicEmergency Hotline for information during a bushfire.

All Victorian households, landowners and small businesses can contact the VicEmergency Hotline for information on how to prepare for a bushfire and reduce their bushfire risk.

How to access

Call 1800 226 226.

Trained operators are available from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm, Monday to Friday (or outside business hours when significant fires are occurring).

Recorded information on specific topics is available 24 hours a day.

The National Relay Service is available to help callers with a hearing or speech impairment. For:

The Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) is available, 24 hours 7 days a week, for callers who speak other languages. Call 131 450.
