Costs

The National Disability Abuse and Neglect Hotline is a free service.
Calls are free from landlines.
Calls from mobile phones may be charged at a higher rate.

Tip

  • Seeking help for yourself or for someone you know who is being abused or neglected is a courageous decision.
  • Neglect and abuse can take on many forms. An example of abuse is physical abuse, such as punching, hitting or slapping. An example of neglect is wilful deprivation – wilfully denying a person assistance and thereby exposing that person to the risk of physical, mental or emotional harm.
  • You can contact the hotline if you are unsure if what is happening is actually abuse or neglect and the service can help clarify the situation.
