Good reasons for walking
There are many good reasons to walk. It can help you lose body fat and maintain a healthy weight. It will improve your fitness and reduce your risk of developing heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and some cancers.
Try to walk briskly for at least 30 minutes each day.
Protecting children
Child protection services aim to protect children and young people from family abuse or neglect. Anyone can make a report to the Victorian Child Protection Service if they believe a child is in need of protection. Suspected abuse may be physical, emotional, sexual or involve neglect.
Hearing tests check a person's ability to hear the loudness and pitch of sounds. The results are charted on a graph (audiogram) to help pinpoint the severity and causes of hearing problems.
A heart murmur is caused by faulty blood flow within the heart. The familiar 'lub-dub' sound of the heartbeat is caused by the rhythmic closing of the heart valves. A heart murmur is an additional humming or whooshing sound, occurring between the heartbeat sounds.
Electric shock can cause injuries including burns and disturbances to heart rhythm (heart failure) that could be fatal. Always disconnect the power supply before trying to help a victim of electric shock. Be especially careful in wet areas, such as bathrooms, since water conducts electricity.
Myotherapy is a form of physical therapy used to treat or prevent soft tissue pain and restricted joint movement. The philosophy of myotherapy is founded on Western medical principles including anatomy, physiology and biomechanics.
