Flinders Street Station was the focal point for MDA Awareness Month held during the month of November.
And why Flinders Street Station?
As a result of the magnificent support provided by transport giant connex, the MDA had access to the metropolitan rail network to raise awareness of Muscular Dystrophy and to raise resources through fundraising at selected rail stations, including the very busy Flinders Street Station.
With over 200 stations on the metropolitan rail network displaying our “Super Heroes” posters (see left) and two huge 14 meter banners (see below) facing one of Melbourne’s busiest intersections of Flinders and Swanston Street, eyes were truly focussed on Muscular Dystrophy and the MDA. Hundreds of thousands of people were exposed to our message.
In addition to the poster and banner campaign, the MDA and the National Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre (NMDRC) launched a new TV community service announcement (CSA) promoting research. The message is simple and direct and its aim is to raise awareness for the need for more research into MD. With the support of the national television networks both free to air and pay TV, the NMDRC research message is being broadcast to the widest possible audience.
Only good can come from this level of exposure and awareness so we thank connex and the public for the magnificent support received.
