||The Gippsland Immigration Wall of Recognition Multicultural Festival is a special and unique major event that takes place in the Immigration Park in Morwell. This event promotes a cooperative opportunity for different ethnic communities to work in harmony for several months before, during and after the event.
The event also includes the participation of the Gunnai/Kurnai people who perform the smoking ceremony of welcome on the day of the event. Throughout the day, there are performances by the different ethnic communities, other entertainment, food stalls and craft stalls.
This event is highlighted the unveiling of tablets containing names and details of immigrants to the Gippsland region. The illustrative bronzes and immigrants engraved names and arrival details, provides a growing tangible acknowledgement of peoples’ arrival and their subsequent contribution to the growth of Australia as a nation as a permanent exhibit in Immigration Park Morwell. Overall, this successful event promotes harmony in the different ethnic groups and contributes to the tourism industry and economics of the local region.
