Choosing to have sex raises many issues. Find out about the age of consent, and whether you feel you are ready to have sex.

Sexuality

Sexual preferences vary. Some people are gay, lesbian or bisexual.

Relationships

Sexual relationships can be rewarding and difficult. Communications and intimacy help to avoid conflict.

Safe sex

Safe sex can help provide protection against sexually transmissible infections or STIs including HIV and AIDS, as well as unwanted pregnancy.

Sex education

Sex education is important and should start when children are young. Talk about feelings, relationships, values as well as safe sex.

Sexual issues

Some health conditions, as well as conditions related to ageing like menopause and dementia may cause sexual issues.

Sexual difficulties

Lost off libido and issues like maintaining erections are common sexual problems.

Sexual abuse
