Immunisation protects babies, children and adults against many diseases. Vaccines are available for many diseases including chickenpox, hepatitis B, meningococcal disease, polio, rubella, whooping cough and tetanus. Overseas travel may require special immunisations. A regular influenza or flu vaccine is important, especially for the elderly.

Immunisations for children
Babies and children can get free immunisation for a range of diseases including chickenpox, polio, meningococcal disease, whooping cough, measles, mumps and rubella.
Immunisations for adults
Adults need immunisations including vaccines for flu, hepatitis, tetanus and other conditions. Catch up vaccinations are sometimes needed too.
Travel
Children and adults have special needs for immunisation when they travel. Vaccines and preventative medications are available for many dangerous diseases including polio, hepatitis, tuberculosis (TB), malaria and yellow fever
