Heart disease is very common. Many heart conditions like heart attacks cardiovascular disease and stroke can be prevented. Other heart conditions are related to genetic conditions. A healthy diet, exercise, avoiding smoking and other strategies can all improve heart health.

Being active throughout your life and eating healthy food will help to keep your heart healthy and prevent heart disease.

Reduce your risk

To reduce the risk of damage to your heart, manage your cholesterol levels, avoid smoking, drink alcohol in moderation and reduce fats in your diet.

Heart disease

There are many types of heart diseases and heart conditions including angina, endocarditis, pericarditis, congestive heart failure and aortic stenosis.

Related conditions

Many other conditions can cause symptoms which affect the heart, including kidney disorders and thyroid conditions.

Tests and treatments for heart conditions

Coronary angiograms and electrocardiograms (ECG) are tests used to diagnose heart conditions.
