Gastroenteritis (gastro) is triggered by infection and inflammation in the digestive system. Symptoms can include abdominal cramps, diarrhoea and vomiting. Gastroenteritis often causes loss of fluids, but this can be prevented if the person drinks plenty of fluids to replace those lost due to vomiting and diarrhoea.
