Caring for someone can be stressful whether they are children, the elderly or sick. Carers can find support from government services and other organisations. Find out about support for people with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, motor neurone disease and other conditions. Children with Down syndrome, autism or a disability may also need special care.

Care for carers

Caring causes stress and carers can feel lonely and isolated. Information, help and support are available from many services.

Home care

Support in the home when you care for someone may be available. Find out about local support services for carers.

Caring for children can be stressful. Foster care and permanent care can be stressful but support is available.

Dementia

Dementia affects many people can is hard to cope with for family and friends. There is information available to help families cope with dementia.

Disability

Mental illness

Mental illness is common and can be difficult to deal with for family and friends.

Palliative care

Palliative care aims to make a person with a terminal illness and their families feel in control of their quality of life
