Q: I developed bulimia at age 13 and am now 15 and recovering. I think it stunted my growth and I have yet to get my period. Will I grow taller and get my period? (Female, 15)

A: I am sorry to hear about your bulimia, but am glad that you are on the road to recovery. Eating disorders such as bulimia can affect growth and development, especially in the crucial period of puberty and adolescence. Without further information, it is impossible to give you exact advice about your concerns. I suggest you see your family GP about being referred to a paediatrician who is the best type of doctor to assess your development. There is a good chance that your body will continue to mature, provided it is kept healthy. Good luck.
